Always Late: Seeking For Love And Appreciation
We already know that there are a great number of reasons behind being always late. Some chronically late people are too busy to be on time, some are very bad time estimators and can not plan their activity properly, some are having problems with developing their discipline muscle, some just don’t know how to say “no”, some become victims of time killers, and so on. However, it is possible to name several more reasons why some of us turn into chronic latecomers and make us wait for them all the time. For example, being always late may take source from the desire to feel loved, special and appreciated all the time.
Making other people wait is a tool for some latecomers to check out how much we love them, and how much time we are ready to sacrifice for them. At that, some of such guys actually understand that what they are doing is wring, and by behaving like that they would rather make us hate them. But some are certain that this is the best way to give us a chance to display our appreciation and affection. By making other people wait, some latecomers are seeking for love. Or, they need to feel like they are highly valued and treated like very special people.
Many specialists believe that this reason is usually “supported” by some other stronger reason of being always late. In particular, some of chronic “love seekers” can be fueled in their tendency to make others wait by their nature of being rebels and break common social rules. Others are trying so hard not to look or behave like ordinary people and prove their being “different” by being chronically late. Or, these people who come late all the time, are only trying to feed their ego and prove to themselves that they mean something in this life.
What can we do in this situation and how to handle such type of latecomers? All you need to do is just make them understand that being always late is not something which can cause love and support friendship. For example, if you are waiting for your precious friend next to a cinema theatre and the movie is about to begin, you can comment on the situation as the following. Say that you can wait for him or her for hours because you are truly looking forward to your time with him or her. But if he or she is late, you won’t be able to see this new movie together (you both wanted to much to see it, right?), and you’ll have to spend your time is a crowded shopping mall instead. I guess this should work fine!
